Library Services for Former AMBS Employees

AMBS Retirees

Borrower status

Persons who retired from employment at Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary* may continue to have an Employee borrower status in the library system as long as they comply with library responsibilities and remain in good standing with the seminary.**

This provides full access to the following services:

  • Semester loan periods for general collection materials
  • Interlibrary loan
  • Remote database access
  • Research assistance from library staff

*Retiree status will be confirmed by the library with the AMBS Data Services Manager

**AMBS Library reserves the right to seek information about standing from AMBS administration

Borrower responsibilities

Retirees must do the following to maintain active borrower status:

  • Provide the AMBS library with updated contact information, including an e-mail address
  • Check and respond to e-mail regularly
  • Return materials and pay fees in a timely manner
  • Comply with all library policies
  • Remain in good standing with the seminary

Other Former Employees

Borrower status

Persons who end AMBS employment before retirement do not automatically receive ongoing library privileges. These former employees may apply to become community borrowers after they end employment as long as they live in Elkhart County or an adjacent county. They must continue to comply with all expectations of community borrowers.

AMBS Library reserves the right to consult with AMBS administration to ensure the departure was on good terms before extending community borrower privileges to former employees.
