Retired & Emeritus Faculty

Borrower status

Retired and emeritus faculty may continue to have an Employee borrower status in the library system as long as they comply with library responsibilities and remain in good standing with the seminary. This provides full access to the following services:

  • Semester loan periods for general collection materials
  • Interlibrary loan
  • Remote database access
  • Research assistance from library staff

Borrower responsibilities

Retired and emeritus faculty must do the following to maintain active borrower status:

  • Provide the AMBS library with updated contact information, including an e-mail address
  • Check and respond to e-mail regularly
  • Return materials and pay fees in a timely manner
  • Comply with all library policies
  • Supply AMBS with an additional form of trusted contact, e.g. a pastor, relative, or close friend

Retired Staff

Borrower status

Retired staff members may use the library as community borrowers following retirement as long as they continue to live in the local area and comply with all expectations of community borrowers.

Retired staff members may request additional services beyond what are offered to community borrowers; the library director may grant additional privileges on a case-by-case basis.

Other former employees

Borrower status

Persons who end AMBS employment before retirement do not automatically have ongoing library privileges. Former employees may apply to be community borrowers if they live in the local area. Library staff may consult with AMBS administrators before granting library privileges to former employees.
