Information Literacy at AMBS

Assessment information

This assessment needs to be completed when MA and MDiv students are applying for advancement; this typically occurs after the student's first year at AMBS.

As part of the advancement process, the teaching faculty will consider your information literacy skills, as demonstrated through a simple evaluation of a research paper. Please send one of your research papers to Karl Stutzman via email (kstutzman@ambs.edu) by the time you submit your application.  A librarian will complete the evaluation in time for the teaching faculty to act on your advancement.

Please choose one of your papers that you submitted for an AMBS class in which you did quite a bit of research work, it should meet our criteria. In this assessment, we look at the paper and make sure it fits within our rubric for information literacy.  We are not looking at the content of the paper itself, but at the resources you cited:  that you used a variety of scholarly sources, interacted with them in a productive manner (beyond simple agreement or summarizing), and cited them accurately.  You can view the rubric below.

If we notice in our assessment that something is missing, we will let you know, and we will work on helping you develop the skills so you can pass successfully. Please contact Karl Stutzman (kstutzman@ambs.edu) with any questions.
