Interlibrary Loan & Borrowing from Other Libraries

Request books

Please have your AMBS library card number (14 digits beginning with 29304) handy for this process. If you do not remember your library number, please contact the library at 574-296-6253 or libraryassistant@ambs.edu.

  • Seach AMBS WorldCat for the desired book or media item. You can use the search box in the "Books" tab on the library home page.
    • By default, AMBS WorldCat shows you materials in the AMBS Library first.
    • Change the sorting routine from "Library and Relevance" to "Relevance Only" if you are not seeing the item you want.
  • Click on the title.
  • Click on the "Place hold" or "Request Item" buttons.
  • Follow the prompts to enter the requested information.
  • Click Submit.
  • Unless you get an error message, your request will be sent automatically to other libraries for their consideration. The AMBS library will contact you when the book has arrived.

You should expect to receive your materials in a week or two. Please contact the AMBS library if you have any questions about the arrival of your books.

Request copies of articles or book chapters

  • Search for articles on the library website or in EBSCO databases.
  • If you don't see a link to the article, use the  link. If it is not in the AMBS Library, you will see an interlibrary loan form with the citation entered already.
  • Add your name and e-mail address, then send the interlibrary loan request.
  • When the article or chapter arrives, it will usually be delivered to you via e-mail. Articles or chapters often arrive in 1-2 days.

If you want to request a citation that you found in a book or journal article, send the citations to ill@ambs.edu or complete this form.
